Memorabilia

One of the first
items to appear is a photo of the last known telegraph key (Vibroplex) which was last
used in
1950 by the signal department (1st floor, track side). The entire telegraph system was
later replaced by the new technology called the Teletype. This
key was presented to me by a former Clinchfield Railroad employee when he
discovered I had obtained my ham radio ticket in 1957. It has been in use ever
since and is still working like new. CRR Telegraph
The official
time piece on the CRR was a Seth Thomas Pendulum
Clock which was located in the
Dispatcher's Office.
The time registered on this clock also served as the Official Time for the
Western Union Telegraph Office, the town of Erwin and Unicoi County and was
duplicated on another clock located at the Main Office of the Erwin YMCA.
(Photo Soon) An original office chair. This particular chair was taken from a scrap pile located on the south side of the main office building in 1954. During the remodeling, the south end of each floor was removed and all office furniture was thrown out and accumulated in a pile of wood scrape. Before this was completed, several items were saved. Among these items were: a standard office chair, an executive office chair, an executive roll top desk, file cabinets, pictures, ash trays, etc.
